St Mary’s Church of England Voluntary Controlled Primary School lies eight miles from the centre of the City of York. We have currently 114 children on roll ranging from Foundation to Year 6.
We are a highly motivated, enthusiastic and committed team. We strongly believe in placing learning and the well being of children at the centre of education. Education aims to be challenging, exciting and fun, full of enriching experiences.
St. Mary’s prides itself in having high standards of teaching, learning and behaviour. This is all underpinned with strong traditional Christian values and principles. We are a high achieving school and aim to meet the needs of all our children.
The staffing comprises of: Headteacher, Deputy Head, one full time teacher and five part time teachers, three full time teaching assistants, three part-time administrative staff and a peripatetic bursar.
We have three indoor and one outside classroom. The Foundation/Key stage One share a learning area both inside and out. Class 3 comprises of Year 3 and 4 children, and Class 4 having Year 5 and 6 children.
The school has a wonderful outside learning environment for work and play. We have a playing field, a hard playground area, two adventure play areas, a wildlife area and a pond.
The School House is adjacent to the school and offers breakfast and after school clubs, as well as housing ‘Little St. Mary’s’, our local playgroup.
